Thanks
I've had so many teachers! Here are some that have had had a great impact on this website, I will never forget!
THANKS TO
My husband, Allen Moulton, R.N., M.S., M.S.N. See his bio in "About us."
Thanks to Linda Cannon Hoffman, my good friend and also a death doula, for all her help with this book, and for being my friend Julianne's death doula.
We thank our “Beta Testing” group for feedback and good humor in helping us create this work and being part of our own “Death Prep Group,” with whom we meet regularly. These are: Marilyn, Gerette, Mara, Louise.
Thanks to Dr. Laura McCray for her attention to this project, and feedback
The Death Café organization
Shinzen Young, my meditation teacher who presents mindfulness studies with clarity and good will and walked me through some tough stuff. Because he gave me a solid foundation and confidence in my own meditation practice, I was able to “turn toward” my discomfort, discovering strength I didn't know I had. https://www.shinzen.org/
Thanks in memorium
Donna Stillman, my aunt who read every word of this project before she died, encouraged me, and taught me how to listen, and taught me about forgiveness. She was calm and kind, a true Christian of faith and goodwill, and I am forever grateful.
Julianne Holland – Here is a video my wonderful friend Julianne made about 2 months before she died of cancer in 2016. Julianne was my dharma sister and best friend, and I was with her every step of the way as best as I could be. She was a model, fluent in 4 languages and a substance abuse counselor. She chronicled her experiences and discoveries while searching for an alternative cure to cancer in hopes that someone may pick up where she left off.
Barbara Molloy passed in 2015. She was as a printmaker, an animal communicator, teacher, and dynamic woman! Barbara and I shared a fascination for monkeys and apes and human and animal behaviors. Barbara had stage IV cancer, and planned her death down to the last detail. She had the most fabulous funeral I ever attended and was an inspiration for my death planning and Death Cafe participation. Her spiritual group of modern-day Druids know how to put on a service.
Bradley Fox http://bradleyfox.com Bradley Fox passed suddenly in 2010. Bradley was my painting partner and for 3 years we hosted the East Johnson Plein Air Club together. He died unexpectedly at age 51. The week before he died, we met up in an old cemetery in Johnson, and we painted and drew gravestones. We talked about Project Runway (as usual), design principals and aesthetics, and we talked about death, too, a lot, that day. Perhaps at some level we knew this was our last meeting? I don’t know.
